The article 5 Important Traits that Persuasive People Posses by Jeff Charles is a good place to ask yourself some tough questions about your own persuasiveness. I strongly encourage you to read the entire article in detail, think deeply, and assess whether your executives, stakeholders, and learners would view you as demonstrating these five traits consistently. Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
Active Listening - Do you understand their point of view? Success Factors, Dominant Motives, or personal Pain Points?
Effective Questioning - Are you comfortable going beyond open questions and asking challenging and provocative questions to get the information you need?
Selflessness - Are you focusing on how your solution will impact and benefit them, not the solution itself?
Empathy - Are you aware of how they feel? Are they aware that you know how they feel?
Easy to Understand - Are you speaking the language of business and presenting your solution with impact?
