The ATD article How Much Is Scrap Learning Costing Your Organization by Ken Phillips does a nice job of using industry statistics to show how to quantify scrap learning savings. However, instead of highlighting savings as the big “success factor”, how about repurpose the money to pilot a new learning experience or solution and measure success? Savvy learning leaders do just this!
Next time try saying this with an executive to gain their buy-in for a new pilot: “I’ve been able to repurpose some of the training budget to set up a pilot for something far more effective. Let me show you the impact”.
